1. Grades - All players must be aware of the new NCAA rules. It’s hard to receive a scholarship when student athletes aren't qualified under NCAA guidelines. Students need to start preparing for college starting in 9th grade because with new NCAA guidelines, students have no room for era. Coaches, parents, and teachers all need to be aware of classes and test scores of all student athletes trying to play sports in college. Here are ways to help improve grades and test scores: 1. Attend summer school when you get a D or F in any core course 2. If a school is too hard then you need to either get serious help or find another school 3. Use all resources offered by HS examples tutoring, after school help, and/or extra credit 4. Low GPA can be offset by high SAT or ACT scores (NCAA Guidelines) 5. If you're going into your senior year needing to improve both test score and/or GPA then you need to contact Rise Academy to help with you academic situation. Consulting fee may apply 2, AAU Basketball- AAU spring, summer, and fall are all times college coaches use to evaluate talent. This is the season where coaches and scouts come out and compare players in order to find the best student athletes for their colleges. Many schools follow scouting services and recommendation by respectable basketball high school coaches and AAU coaches to help make their search easier. Here are things you need to consider about AAU basketball: Coaches 1. Coaches look at respectable programs that normally produced players in the past 2. Coaches tend to follow sneaker sponsored programs because they're normally sponsored for a reason 3. Coaches attend sneaker sponsored events because they normally attract the talent 4. Coaches look at bodies as well as talent and ability 5. Coaches will recruit 100's of players before deciding on 1 player 6. Coaches will be more attracted to a player that does well at camp and AAU not just AAU 7. Coaches tend to recruit the same player in the fall; this is why scholarship is still available in the spring time 8. Coaches are only allowed out certain time of the year to evaluate talent 9. Coaches will sometime over estimate or under estimate players due to media hype of teams 10. Coaches only come to high school games to look at particular players not the whole team Players 1. Players that expect to receive scholarship to the school of choice need to be the first, second, or third option unless you're a developing big man. 2. Players can't expect to get a scholarship if he's not on the court 3. Players can't get scholarships if they're on B level teams that can't compete with other major programs 4. Players need to understand that coaches are looking for stars and starters not bench players 5. Players need to seek the best competition by going to camp at the right time and going to the right events where coaches are going to be present 6. Players need to seek teams and programs where coaches either played basketball at a high level or coached multiple high level players in the past. 7. Players need to seek programs where the coach can teach you skill and basketball IQ over the spring, summer, and fall months 8. Players need to go to HS where they have a chance to either win games and/or be the star 9. Players shouldn't believe college letters leads to scholarships, coaches will find you if you can play and you're doing the right things 10 Players need to find a high school program and AAU program that's going to make you play the right way all the time. Truths 1. How you practice and warm-up is normally how you play 2. Usually what you see on the court is what you see in a players life 3. Players waste you time and money going to camps for a week because you only get better with repetition How can you learn something in 20 minute Stations ? 4. Good players get worst when they try ti hide among other good players. A star will always Rise 5. Youth program that spend more time on plays than skills need to be eliminated 6. Parents that waste their time on youth rankings and grade school all-American camps are wasting time and money 7. Scouting services that support youth rankings and youth exploitation of young players are destroying basketball and creating political issues 8. Why would you go to a AAU program, high school, or college that have good players in your same position. Players should want to play against the best competition not with the competition 9. High School and Prep school players should always try to attend school where they know they will either gain experience, exposure, and /or stardom. Don't be a statistic at the end of so 10. Basketball is luck; players get scholarship being at the right place at the right time. Everything has to fall in place even when you consider your high school. 8th Grade advice: Why play JV at a good high school when you can play varsity at a average high school. example: Player 1 scores 24 pts and 5 ast against Roman and player 2 score 10pts 2 ast against Ryan. Which play will appear to be more attractive to fans and coaches. Sometimes, it doesn't pay to be a role player on any team when you have the potential to be a star. Think about this ....... who's better Wayne Ellington or Stefon Curry it's all about the position and the situation you out yourself into. This is for all the haters out there ...... Let's talk about history We coached %90 of all Pro's in this area in the last 15 years at 1 time or another without sponsership Average 8 Division 1 players per year over 12 years About %99 of all my players have very good college careers becuase they good to the right schools We have more pros and overseas players than all other area teams combined Started a Prep school that plays 60 game schedule against the best competition across the country. Prep players receive 6 scholarships from last year team and 4 - 5 this year. More than any other high school and/or Prep school in the area including Apex and American Christian combined. Stop and do your research because the truth is about to come out. Example: I had 3 players from a New Jersey team that I sometimes coached go to 3 different Prep school. player 1 paid 18,000 to be the last man on a top ranked prep school and lost his division 1 scholarship and looks. Player 2 paid 16,000 to be on the B team at a local basketball academy and didn't get any better. He 's on his way to a division 3 school. Player 3 played for Rise against the New Jersey Prep team decide attend the NJ prep instead of Rise and only played 10 games on the B team with no exposure. I see players make the same mistake year in year out. Novice consultants advise kids without looking at evaluating the individual situation. This sometimes will make and break a players career and if he uses basketball as a way of life this will end that life-style very quickly.
